BIOGRAPHY
Composer Joël von Moos
Obwalden-born musician Joël von Moos (*1991) works as a composer, librettist, instrumentalist, and producer. His musical interests are wide-ranging, and he has worked across various musical genres and in different artistic roles – from solo projects to large-scale theatrical productions.
Through his label JVM Productions, Joël von Moos creates musical experiences aimed at a broad audience. His goal is to evoke deep emotional responses, unhindered by stylistic boundaries or genre conventions. As such, his roots in sacred music harmonize with his passion for opera and his strong connection to the traditions of Swiss folk music.
As a young singer in the Lucerne Boys Choir (Luzerner Kantorei), he was introduced early on to sacred works from various historical periods and to the operatic stage. Since discovering Swiss yodeling at the age of 17 as the conductor of the Jodlerklub Arnigrat, his love for folk music has continued to grow.
His debut project, “DOROTHEA – Cantata in Honor of Niklaus von Flüe” (2017, 2019, 2022), was initiated as part of the nationally coordinated “Mehr Ranft” commemorative year and received notable attention. JVM Productions thus entered the professional realm for the first time and reached a wide audience.
The project “TOTÄMÄSS” is his second major original production, initiated and produced under the JVM label, with Joël von Moos serving as artistic director.
